My father lives in Chicago and I live in Tulsa..Rather than having either one of us drive to 11 hours, we would like to find a good halfway point to meet and spend a weekend together. We are wanting a nice, fun place to have a good time at. I am not really sure what the best bet is.

What about St. Louis?? I live here and I have been to Chicago and Tulsa many times. It takes about 5 hours by car to get to both to get from Chicago to STL and about 5 and 1/2 from Tulsa.

There is a lot to do in STL and it can be done on any budget. If you do not want to stay in downtown there are many nice “suburbs” to stay in.

Some suggestions for things to do:

Okay so I bet that at least Dad is a Cub’s fan but, if the Cards are in town you could see a game. The stadium is really nice.
Speaking of sports you could go see a Blues or Rams game if they are in town. Okay I know you all are Chicago Fans, but it could still be fun!

If you all like museums there is the Art Museum which is just wonderful and it is free! In fact the Zoo, Science Center and History Museum are all free. The Zoo is just wonderful and heck it is free! Doesn’t matter what age you are you can have a great time here.

The Arch. You know if you come here you must go at least see the Arch however, I suggest going up in it. The elevator up is just amazing! The views from the top are the best in the city and you can see the mighty Mississippi rolling. The Arch also has the Museum of Westward Expansion, which is very neat.

Casinos: If you all like to test your luck we have several of them. Depending when you come there is a new one opening downtown. However there are several in the area.

More Museums that are located here and that I enjoy are:

Cahokia Mounds and Museum. Just incredible!

Museum of Transportation. They have tons of stuff here and it is cheap! This place is wonderful!

Kemp Auto Museum: Cost about 8 bucks but, for a private collection there are some really cool cars here!

Cardinals Hall of Fame/Bowling Hall of Fame. Very neat, the history of the Cards is just very interesting and yes there are some moments with the Cubs. :)
    Some other interesting things:

Of course who could not love Anheuser-Busch and the wonderful brewery! The tour is FREE and you get FREE beer tasting! Who could beat that! The place really is very cool to see! I live here and have a great time every time I go! Well worth the time!

If you all like nature there are some great parks outside of STL. There is Johnson’s Shut-Ins which is nature’s water park. They really are amazing and swimming in them is so much fun. Loan Elk State Park has Bison, Elk and many more creatures running around, they have limited hiking and on weekends always have some program going on. The Wolf Sanctuary is not s state park however on weekends they have a lot of programs. You have to make reservations in advance so yahoo their website. This place is way cool! They are breeding wolves and releasing them into the wild, they have several night walks which are just amazing the wolves howl at you! I have never done anything like this anywhere else! Mastodon State Historic Site hiking here is wonderful! I also really enjoy Elephant Rock State Park the rock formations are just amazing and they have all level of trails.

If you all like music we have everything from Rock, Blues, Jazz and Country! We have tons of wonderful bars/clubs and music venues. If you are a foodie we can handle that too. The Hill is known for its wonderful Italian Food. Ted Drews is the place for desert. Soulard has a ton of local favorites, French flair and even some upscale little places.

For more information I would check out this site and request your FREE visitor’s packet, your dad can even get one too. It comes with all types of info, coupons and maps.

The drive for both of you is very easy, the only bad thing is that you will be on the turnpike and you have to pay for your drive.

I hope this helps you have a wonderful trip!
